You’re Allowed to Be Different

It is easy to be the same, doing what others are doing. Everybody is going in this direction or doing it that way and it is easier to just follow along. Common people are doing common things and it is easy to gravitate toward that and join in. But if you want to be different, these common things will bring you down and hold you back. Common things like complaining, being late, not giving your effort or showing disregard for meeting the standards. These things aren’t achieving the higher standard you are capable of.

You weren’t meant to be part of the same people that are doing the same things and neither are they. When you see common behaviors happening, be the different one. Stand out from the crowd and be that amazing person you are supposed to be. Make a positive impact and possibly influence others to be different. Set a higher standard and help lift others up to it. This is when your leadership presence starts to come out.

Transforming from the Same to Different for a Higher Standard

Transforming from doing the same things everyone else is doing to being different is taking the non-productive/non-value add and doing the opposite or better.

1. From complaining to gratitude

Complaining is easy to get stuck in. Start finding the things that are good and you will see the good exceeds the bad.

2. Going through the motions to doing it with passion, energy, and enthusiasm

Going through life without passion, energy and enthusiasm are slowing everyone around you down. You get to pursue what you love and do it with energy and enthusiasm by being different. Let your passion out, the rest will follow.

3. Staying away from sneaky or dishonest to integrity and doing the right thing even when no one will see

There aren’t many who wander to this behavior so it isn’t as much being different as it is helping others redirect. Make sure you keep yourself doing the right thing even when no one is looking. It is about patterns and this is one of the best to demonstrate alignment too.

Being different and doing what other people aren’t doing is holding yourself to a higher standard. At first, people won’t understand. It won’t feel comfortable because being different doesn’t help you fit in. But you were meant for better, you are capable of a higher standard. You do this because of an insatiable drive to be better, do better and have a better impact. That is the level of leadership you strive for every day.

Being the same is easy but it doesn’t make an impact. Practice being different and go for the higher standard you are capable of.
